About Kadaiyahan. Kadaiyahan, also known as Dyesabel’s SEAtizen Scientists Program, is a youth-centered environmental science initiative that trains and empowers young people to become community-based citizen scientists. The program promotes coastal stewardship, participatory data gathering, environmental storytelling, and policy-oriented action, allowing youth and local communities to contribute directly to marine conservation and climate resilience.
From mangrove geotagging and field-based environmental documentation to local policy drafting and creative advocacy, the team demonstrated how youth can turn scientific data into meaningful public action. Their work reflects a growing movement where communities are not only recipients of climate solutions but active leaders in producing knowledge, shaping narratives, and advancing environmental justice.
The recognition also underscores the importance of empowering young people in coastal provinces such as Davao Oriental, where communities are directly connected to marine and coastal ecosystems. For SEAnag Silangan, the achievement is more than a set of awards; it is a call to continue building a future where science is accessible, stories are rooted in community, and climate action begins from the ground.
With this milestone, SEAnag Silangan brings home a message of hope from the east: the youth are not merely waiting for a better future. They are building it—one coastline, one story, one ordinance, and one act of stewardship at a time.
